Spanish Settlers of Louisiana
French Colonial Period: 1699-1762
   Since France was in control of Louisiana for this period, the numbers of Spanish in the territory remained small.  
Spanish Colonial Period: 1762-1803
     Once Spain owned Louisiana, it was easier for Spanish people to come to Louisiana.  Spain didn't attempt mass migrations of its people to settle the area, except perhaps for the Canary Islanders.  But since more Spanish soldiers and businessmen came to Louisiana, more ended up as its citizens.
