By CHRIS SEGURA, American Press, 8/7/99

MORGAN CITY -- Members of the Daigle Family will hold their grand reunion on Saturday, Aug. 14, at the
Civic Auditorium in Morgan City. Registration will begin at 8 a.m.

Thomas Daigle of Canada will provide information on the connection to the Daigle family in other parts of the world. Carol Ann Aucoin will speak on ''Cajuns-A Culture''.

Entertainment will be provided throughout the day by various musicians, including the young accordionist Erin Daigle. Several notable Daigles will be recognized for their contributions to our culture and our country.

A genealogy booth will be set up to help people trace their family tree by computer search. Other booths will include Genetics and Health in the Acadian People, History of the Acadians, the Daigles of Madawaska, T-shirts and souvenirs, Daigle Cookbooks, and La Table Francaise for Conversation in French.

Free Cajun dance lessons will be given. There will be several children's activities, as well as tours of the Swamp Gardens.

Gumbo will be served for lunch by the Morgan City Fire Department, and jambalaya for dinner by the Phillip Daigle family. There will be a Mass celebrated in French at 4 p.m. From 7-10 p.m. there will be a dance featuring the Les Amis Cajun Band.

August 11 will be Daigle Day at Acadian Village in Lafayette. All Daigles and Daigle descendants are invited to attend both days.
